Some 100% cotton towels may not be absorbent due to the presence of fabric softeners or chemical finishes applied during manufacturing, which can coat the fibers and reduce their ability to soak up water. Additionally, tightly woven or low-quality cotton fibers may not allow for optimal absorption compared to higher quality or loosely woven cotton. Washing the towels a few times without fabric softener can help increase their absorbency.
