When changing the gown of a person with an IV, first ensure the IV line is secure and the IV pole is stable. Carefully remove the gown from the arm without the IV first, then gently slide the gown over the IV tubing and the arm with the IV. If needed, temporarily disconnect the IV with proper precautions, ensuring sterility and continuity of medication flow.
