The oldest winery on Long Island is Castello di Borghese Vineyard & Winery, originally established as Hargrave Vineyard. It was founded in 1973 by Louisa and Alex Hargrave in Cutchogue, marking the beginning of the modern wine industry on Long Island. The Hargraves sold the vineyard in 1999 to the Borghese family, who renamed it Castello di Borghese.
