The biggest blanket in the world is the result of a project called "The Great Blanket of Love," organized by the South African charity 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day. In April 2016, they set a Guinness World Record by creating a blanket that covered over 17,000 square meters (about 183,000 square feet). This massive blanket was made up of thousands of smaller blankets crocheted by volunteers from around the world.
